QSQL: An Extension to SQL for Queries on Information Quality

چکیده

This paper presents an extension to SQL where end-users can specify their information quality constraints in the queries. Specifically, it shows how an SQL quality estimator module evaluates the quality profiles (i.e. accuracy and completeness) of queries based on the defined quality constraints. The quality estimations are numeric which would support the end-users in determining the value and usefulness of the information (derived data) presented to them as query results. This concept has important implications for data consumers aiming to make more informed decision from the query result. Examples are provided to highlight the advantages of user-defined QSQL result compared to existing SQL result.
